This song was written in 2002, while Simon was a 16 year old student at Penasco High School in New Mexico. His inspiration came after participating in a discussion of the ZERI concept led by Gunter Pauli. Simon wanted Gunter to come again and speak to more students. Gunter agreed with the condition that Simon write a song based on what he learned and sing it at the later meeting. And both of them did so.
